How to do it

  1. Hold a light resistance band in front of your chest with straight arms, hands shoulder-width apart.
  2. Keep your ribs down and shoulders away from your ears.
  3. Pull the band apart by moving your hands out to the sides until it touches your chest.
  4. Return slowly to the start.

Coaching tips

  • Great as a warm-up: 2 sets of 15–20.
  • Use a lighter band if you have to arch your back.

Common mistakes

  • Bending the elbows a lot.
  • Shrugging the shoulders up.
